Five officials of the state-owned Philippine Merchant Marine Academy (PMMA) were suspended on May 21, 2021, for alleged Dishonesty and Neglect of Duty involving 18 Million worth of Simulators and IT Equipment procured in 2017 and 2018 which were flagged by the Commission on Audit (COA) as non-operational and unutilized to this date.
Commodore Joel Abutal, Superintendent of the PMMA confirmed that the Board of Trustees has approved the 90-day preventive suspension without pay of five officials pending Formal Investigation.
