My South Korean friend was required to go back to their country to fulfill military duties. His South Korean boss said he has nothing to worry about because he will not be relieved from his job. I was just wondering if we Filipinos have something like that. For instance, I was required to perform military service while I am employed in a private company, can I still go back to my work?

Dear Nestor,
Under our Philippine laws, private employees are granted the opportunity to return to their work after fulfilling their military or civic duty. This is in consonance particularly with Article 301 of the Labor Code of the Philippines, which explicitly provides that:
