'More liberal, safer' meat, fish trade urged

The Fisheries and Aquaculture Board of the Philippines (FABP) and Meat Importers and Traders Association (Mita) are calling for a more liberal but safer foreign trade regime in meat and fishery products.

In a joint statement on Thursday, FABP Chair Chingling Tanco and Mita President Jesus Cham said that creating a more open and safer trade of meat and fish commodities would improve access of all Filipinos to such food items, diversify the industries using them, and help realize a common goal of a more robust Philippines agriculture and fisheries sector.
