The National Maritime Polytechnic (NMP) celebrated its 43rd founding anniversary in Cabalawan, Tacloban last May 3.
NMP is the sole government maritime training and research center in the country created in 1978 by then-president Ferdinand Marcos as the country’s response to the challenges posed to Filipino seafarers to the requirements of 1978 International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) International Convention on the Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping (STCW).
