A Monday afternoon fire hit a densely populated area that gutted 52 houses and left 250 residents homeless in Bacolod City. The fire, which began approximately 3:30 p.m. and was placed under control around 5:30 p.m., affected 61 families in Purok Neptune, Barangay Singcang-Airport. Village chief Rosinie Distrito said the firetruck had difficulty penetrating the area but no casualties were reported, although there were some residents who suffered minor injuries. Fire victims are temporarily sheltered in modular tents at the JR Torres Elementary School gym. The Bacolod City government, through the Department of Social Services and Development and Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, already provided food packs and hygiene kits to the fire victims.The office of Rep. Greg Gastaya also sent assistance.
