ZAMBOANGA CITY: The surge in Covid-19 cases in Zamboanga City may have been caused by new strains or variants of the virus that are now plaguing the entire country.

From a little over 3o active Covid-19 cases in March, Zamboanga now has more than 1,000 new cases and the number continues to climb despite strict quarantine measures and health protocols imposed by the local Covid-19 task force headed by Mayor Beng Climaco.
