The Japan Embassy launched “Food and Friendship: The Japan-Philippines 65th Anniversary Online Cooking Contest” — an online competition that will be conducted as part of the year-long celebration of the 65th anniversary of the normalization of bilateral ties between Japan and the Philippines.

The competition will center on photo and video entries from Filipino contestants that focus on Japanese cuisine and/or Filipino-Japanese fusion cooking and will be judged on criteria such presentation, recipe, and photo or video quality. It is open to Filipino amateur cooks, home cooks, small business owners, culinary students, and food enthusiasts who are willing to prepare and take a photo a dish as specified in the “Entries” section of the Official Contest Rules. No age restrictions apply. Professional chefs, however, are not allowed to join the contest. Contestants below the age of 18 will need permission from their parents/guardians to join the contest.
