MIDSAYAP, North Cotabato: Individuals who have been vaccinated by approved Covid-19 vaccines are not guaranteed 100 percent safe from the virus, according to Dr. Eva Rabaya, head of the Integrated Provincial Health Office-Cotabato. In a news conference held last Thursday in Binoligan, Kidapawan City, Rabaya clarified that each brand of vaccine has its own efficacy rates ranging from 70 to 90 percent after one or two doses are injected into an individual. She said if the efficacy or protection rate of a vaccine is 70 percent, there is still the remaining 30 percent possibility for the vaccinated individual to contract the virus. Meanwhile, Rabaya said their “Bakuna Plus” campaign is a public reminder that protection from the virus does not only stop with vaccination. An individual must still observe health protocols like wearing mask and face shield, disinfecting the body and the environment and observing proper social distancing.
