IMUS CITY, Cavite: There will be no apprehension for curfew violators in the province of Cavite as part of the Inter-Agency Task Force for Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases guidelines, which means that no community service or physical activities will be slapped on curfew offenders. Cavite Police Provincial Director and Police Col. Marlon Santos on Wednesday assured only lectures and warnings await the violators. The assurance came after LtCol. Marlo Solero, police chief of General Trias City, and two SWAT members were removed from their post on the same day over the death of alleged curfew violator Darren Peñaredondo. Solero denied that he and the two SWAT members made Peñaredondo do push-ups, killing the latter. Santos said the three police officers are already facing administrative charges. “It is also possible that they will be charged with criminal cases once the relatives of the deceased curfew violator Darren Peñaredondo file a formal complaint,” he added. General Trias City deputy chief of police, Maj. Robert Dimapilis, took over as acting chief of police of the city. Mayor Antonio Ferrer issued an official statement regarding the incident on his official social media account, saying the leadership of the local government implements health guidelines set by national government to prevent the increase of Covid-19 cases in our locality, and it has never been part of policy to hurt or torture anyone who violates such guidelines.
