BACOLOD CITY: Two Philippine Army soldiers were killed on April 3 in an ambush by suspected New People’s Army (NPA) rebels in Sitio Cambaga, Barangay Yaoyao, Cauayan, Negros Occidental, a day after local police rescued an injured NPA combatant after a clash in Barangay Nagbinlod, Santa Catalina, Negros Oriental.
Maj. Cenon Pancito, spokesman for the Army’s 3rd Infantry Division, on Sunday confirmed the death of the two soldiers, who were members of the 15th Infantry Battalion who had been sent to visit their Community Support Team unit stationed in Barangay Yaoyao.
