DAVAO CITY: Several firearms and documents of high-value intelligence were recovered following an encounter between government troops and suspected members of the New People’s Army (NPA) in Sitio Libertad, Barangay Malinawon, Mawab, Davao de Oro on April 2.
Maj. Jerry Lamosao, spokesman for the Philippine Army’s 10th Infantry Division, said the operating team from the 25th Infantry Battalion (IB) encountered about 16 NPA fighters, believed to be members of Andoy Platoon, Regional Headquarters, Southern Mindanao Regional Committee (SMRC), operating in Mawab, Davao de Oro and New Corella, Davao del Norte under a certain “Bagyo.”
