President Rodrigo Roa Duterte is presented with a commemorative frame of the historic ‘Murillo Velarde Map 1734’ commemorative stamps by Philippine Postal Corp. Postmaster General Norman Fulgencio during the 500th anniversary of the Philippine Part in the First Circumnavigation of the World held at the Veterans Park Calicoan Island in Guiuan, Eastern Samar. The Philippine Postal Corporation has launched the “Murillo Velarde 1734 Map,” regarded as the “Mother of All Philippine Maps” in celebration of the 500th anniversary of Christianization of the Philippines and its role on the first circumnavigation of the world by Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan and the victory of Lapu-Lapu in the Battle of Mactan.
