THE Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations believes that the pandemic would have a big impact on the food and agriculture sector in developing countries like the Philippines, threatening the livelihoods of vulnerable groups, particularly small-scale farmers and fisherfolk.

Since last year, these vulnerable groups have faced challenges in accessing markets to sell their products or buy essential inputs. They have struggled because of higher food prices and limited purchasing power. Informal laborers have also been hit hard.
