THOSE who criticize this government should begin to coalesce and unify into one solid opposition force. But in order to have even the chance to become a formidable force that can match the Duterte political dynasty that is cobbled by blood, political servitude or political affinity, then several painful remedies should first be taken.

First to be considered is to ditch the idea that Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo can become a viable candidate. Whatever miracle happened in 2016 when she was able to eke out a razor-thin victory over Ferdinand Marcos Jr., one that remains in doubt despite the Supreme Court validating it, can never be replicated; more so that the machinery has shifted away from the Liberal Party. More importantly and beyond questionable viability, Robredo is objectively not even a candidate that can open up an alternative and novel political narrative.
