Five students from Lamitan City in Basilan belonging to the Muslim sub-tribe of Yakan took their oath as scholars during the second founding anniversary of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). Engineer Omar Marzoc, Provincial Director of MOST BARMM, said a total of 84 students took the qualifying examination for Bangsamoro Assistance for Science Education (BASE) last October but only five passed the test. The five scholars are Nor Yasmin Salain, Hamoudie Akanul, Alghazee Angulo, Naurava Abubakar and Nadzmia Aahang. The scholars will each receive financial assistance for the first semester of next school year in the amount of P40,000 or P8,000 per month.
