TANZA, CAVITE: A police officer was reported to have killed himself using his service firearm in his house on Thursday. Police Cpl. Nikko Paul Barranco of Tanza Police Office, officer-on-case, identified the policeman as Police Staff Sgt. Ruel Sajonia, 34, a member of the Philippine National Police assigned at Trece Martires City, married and a resident of Block 11, Lot 1, Spring Green, Subdivision, Barangay Bucal, Tanza, Cavite. According to a witness, Sajonia’s sister Lorna Perez, 40, her brother arrived home, changed into civilian clothes and went to the living room to sleep. Moments later, Perez said, Sajonia went to the toilet and shortly she heard a gunshot around 4 a.m. According to her, she immediately informed the victim’s wife, Evangeline Sajonia, who at the time was sleeping inside the couple’s bedroom. Evangeline said her husband had been depressed by their debts to lending institutions.
