The Philippine Navy will decommission four of its ships on Monday in compliance with the military's modernization program.
Navy chief Vice Adm. Giovanni Carlo Bacordo said the four ships -- BRP Quezon (PS70), BRP Pangasinan (PS31), BRP Emilio Liwanag (PC118) and BRP Salvador Abcede (PC114) -- can no longer attain the desired operational speed and were costly to maintain.
