MAYORS will “defer” to President Rodrigo Duterte’s decision to keep the general community quarantine (GCQ) in Metro Manila unless there is a vaccine, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said on Tuesday.

MMDA Chairman Benhur Abalos said the mayors would “rally behind” the President even after the local executives, through its policy board, the Metro Manila Council (MMC), voted 9-8 to have the National Capital Region (NCR) put under a modified GCQ in March.
