AFP vows to protect maritime areas

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) vowed to be “resolute” in protecting the country’s maritime territories amid concerns on China’s new coast guard law.

The AFP was responding to the US State Department’s expression of concern on Beijing’s new legislation that allows its coast guard to use lethal force against foreign vessels found trespassing and committing violations within its self-claimed areas, including the South China (West Philippine) Sea.
