THE Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) chief commercial officer and head of customer retail services, Ferdinand O. Geluz, has written a letter to The Manila Times, where he “categorically denies any claim or accusation that the distribution utility disadvantages its customers in any way.” Geluz’s letter was in reaction to my column last week alleging Meralco’s high-handed way of disconnecting the electric services of their consumers, arbitrary use of power in a dictatorial and tyrannical fashion, and belligerent attitude towards its customers.
Geluz said, “[C]ontrary to Mr. Vitangcol’s claims, Meralco assures maximum consideration during the pandemic and continues to assist customers with all payment concerns.” Really? This is a blatant lie. I stand by my allegations — all backed by real stories from Meralco customers.
