FOUR of six Filipino women who ended up as slaves or prostitutes in Syria said they were falsely charged with theft by their employers and languished in jail for several months before they sought refuge at the Philippine embassy.

The six compose the first batch to be repatriated out of the 38 Filipino household workers who were the subject of an article in the Washington Post. When Foreign Secretary Teodoro “Teddy Boy” Locsin Jr. learned of their plight, he ordered their immediate repatriation.
