NEW MEXICO: Nearly 1,200 infection cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) variants have been reported in the 50 US states, according to the latest data of the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

The vast majority of these cases, 1,173, were caused by the variant known as B117, which was originally detected in Britain. There were 17 cases of a new strain initially discovered in South Africa, called B1351, and three cases of the P1 strain first discovered in Brazil.
