A poll watchdog and several lawmakers expressed opposition to a proposal by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to ban face-to-face campaigns in the 2022 election and for candidates to go online instead because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Malacañang said it was “too early” to even consider the plan as the country has yet to see the results of the government’s vaccination program.
