A labor union has cut its 20-year ties with the Confederation for Unity, Recognition and Advancement of Government Employees (Courage), an umbrella organization of public sector unions in the Philippines.

The Social Welfare Employees Association of the Philippines (SWEAP), the national employees association of the Department of Social Welfare and Development, through a resolution issued by its National Council, formally withdrew its affiliation with Courage, which had been linked by the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA) to the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) during a Senate hearing on red-tagging.
