Palace: Unclos must be complied with

Malacañang has taken exception to a law that China passed giving its coast guard authority to fire on foreign vessels in waters that it claims to be part of its territory.

Palace spokesman Harry Roque Jr. said under the recently enacted law, the Chinese coast guard could “take all necessary measures, including the use of weapons, when national sovereignty, sovereign rights and jurisdiction are being illegally infringed upon by foreign organizations or individuals at sea.”
