Automobiles sold in the country reached 27,596 units last December as players try to boost sales amid the demand-dragging coronavirus pandemic, two industry groups reported on Thursday as a third announced that sales of imported cars fell by more than 40 percent last year.

In a joint report, the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. (Campi) and the Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA) said the figure was 18.1 percent lower than the 33,715 sold in the same month last year, but 19.1 percent higher than the 23,162 sold last November.
