I WAS supposed to write about the devotion to Poong Hesus Nazareno ng Quiapo in time for the feast today, January 9, but events that unfolded during the wee hours of January 7 (Philippine time) compels me to slate this for another time.
The insurrection that happened in the US Capitol is of interest to Filipinos even if we are 8,562 miles away from it. Even though in reality, the Philippines’ importance in American geopolitics has waned since the end of the Cold War (where the US bases here served their purpose).
