THE Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene on Tuesday appealed to the national government to allow it to increase its capacity to 50 percent so that more devotees can attend masses to celebrate the Feast of the Black Nazarene after the cancellation of the Traslacion because of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.

Fr. Douglas Badong, Quiapo Church parochial vicar, voiced concern that the church could not accommodate devotees inside the present allowable 30 percent capacity based on government guidelines for areas under general community quarantine (GCQ), which include Metro Manila.
