The sin tax measure, which seeks to impose higher taxes on tobacco and alcohol products, has been approved in the House of Representatives but with a significant decrease in projected revenues for the government.

Finance Secretary Cesar Purisima on Thursday urged the whole Senate to pass the House Bill (HB) No. 5727, saying that was vital not only to raise state revenues but to promote a healthy lifestyle among Filipinos.
