TRIPOLI: December 24 this year marked the 69th anniversary of the independence of Libya, as Libyans hope to achieve stability and unity of their politically divided country with the elections scheduled for Dec. 24, 2021.

Walid Khairy, 65-year-old, has been visiting the Martyrs Square in the center of the capital Tripoli for days, along with his three sons and five of his grandchildren. He says he comes to celebrate the independence of Libya.
