The Philippines has lifted the ban on poultry imports from Brazil after it proved that its foreign meat establishments (FMEs) are free from coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) contamination.

In the Department of Agriculture’s (DA) Memorandum 71 that ordered the ban’s lifting, Agriculture Secretary William Dar said the South American country “provided evidence that the safety protocols enforced in different accredited FMEs are equivalent to the guidelines established by the Philippines relative to the mitigating against Covid-19 in meat establishments.”
