Converge ICT Solutions Inc. reported on Tuesday that it now had 1 million subscribers amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic. In a statement, the listed internet access provider said it got a boost from the global health crisis, which forced businesses and schools to adopt work-from-home schemes and distance learning. “The fast-paced shift to a digital lifestyle ushered by the pandemic has placed utmost importance on the reliability of [an] internet connection,” it said, adding that “major activities that drive heavier internet traffic, such as [working] from home, distance learning and at-home entertainment, such as online gaming and video streaming, and the increased use of features like 4K video, which call for higher speeds, have fueled the demand for better connectivity.” Converge also announced free speed increases to its existing and new subscribers starting on Monday. Converge shares dropped by 10 centavos or 0.64 percent to finish at P15.60 each on Tuesday.
