BACOLOD CITY: Negros Occidental will disallow additional flights to the province this December after 17 local government units had already asked for a moratorium on the arrival of locally stranded individuals (LSIs), said Atty. Rayfrando Diaz, provincial administrator. The Regional Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID), as of December 12, has granted the moratorium on LSI arrivals to Ilog and Cauayan (Dec. 20, 2020 to Jan. 3, 2021); La Carlota City (Dec. 22, 2020 to Jan. 2, 2021); Pontevedra (Dec. 22, 2020 to Jan. 5, 2021); Himamaylan, Victorias and Calatrava (Dec. 21, 2020 to Jan. 3, 2021); Bago City (Nov. 26, 2020 to Dec. 5, 2020); Sagay City (Nov.26, 2020 to Dec. 10, 2020); Hinobaan ( Dec. 15 to 22, 2020); and La Castellana ( Dec. 22, 2020 to Jan. 5, 2021). The Regional IATF-EID also granted a moratorium on LSI arrivals to the province on Dec. 24, 25 and 31, 2020 and Jan. 1, 2021. Bacolod City was also granted a moratorium by the Regional IATF-EID from Dec. 21, 2020 to Jan. 3, 2021. The application for a moratorium will allow the city to rehabilitate its quarantine facilities and to also allow medical frontliners to have a break during the holidays. The LGUs with pending requests for a moratorium on the arrival of LSIs are the towns of Manapla, Candoni, Moises Padilla, and Valladolid. However, Diaz said the airline companies are now worried that they may not have enough passengers with the moratorium on returning LSIs. There will be a suspension of flights to Negros Occidental on Dec. 24, 25 and 31, 2020 and Jan. 1, 2021. EUGENE Y. ADIONG
