TACLOBAN CITY, Leyte: Commendations from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) central office were recently conferred on the Northern Samar Second District Engineering Office (NSSDEO) for its outstanding implementation of roads and bridges maintenance and its domestic communications programs in 2019. The NSSDEO, based in Laoang town and headed by Ferdinand Briones, recorded a 99.4 percent overall rating classified as “excellent” both in inspection and validation and justification works in the strict implementation of maintenance of roads and bridges in the provincial district. Francisco Tanala, chief of the district’s maintenance section, said they prioritized their role in making the roads safe for motorists and travelers. The road rating was conducted by the central office, he added. Tanala, in enforcement of roads and bridges maintenance, has been supported by engineers Nicanor Mejos Jr., Dasto Ergo, Shawnameh Osias and Christian Dave Pangandoyon and complemented by other technical and nontechnical personnel and field laborers. NSSDEO Information Officer Rey Orsua reported that its Public Affairs and Information Office received a recognition certificate from the DPWH central office for its outstanding communications program. Randy del Rosario, head of the Public Information Division of the DPWH Central Office in Manila, wrote to Briones, saying the NSSDEO was in the Top Five District Engineering Offices during the 2019 scoreboard ranking across the country.
