TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan: Men from the 5th Infantry Divison recovered eight improvised explosive devices and other arms at a hideout of the New People’s Army (NPA) in Barangay Bural, Rizal on Saturday. The Infantry Division spokesman, Maj. Jekyll Julian Dulawan, said the armed men were led by a certain Ka Simoy. After 20 minutres of heavy exchange of gunfire, the rebels fled, leaving their weapons. Also recovered were nine jungle packs, two rifle grenades, three detonating cords, seven mobile phones and ammunition. It was believed that some rebelss were also injured since they failed to bring their guns. Major Gen. Laurence Mina said the encounter was a big blow to the NPA.
