ZAMBOANGA CITY: Police killed a member of the extremist Abu Sayyaf Group following a clash early Wednesday in the southern province of Zamboanga del Norte, officials said. The fighting occurred a day after a terrorist was also killed in Cotabato City.

BGen. Jonel Estomo said policemen were trying to arrest Jupuri Dais in his hideout in a village in Sibuco town when he opened fire on security forces, sparking a gun battle that eventually killed the militant.
