Baguio City first to secure P255M for socialized housing

BAGUIO CITY: The city government is the first to secure a P255-million grant for the city’s socialized housing project from the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD). City Planning and Development Coordinator Dona Tabangin said the grant will cover the erection of several structures within the 1.8-hectare, city-owned property. Under the grant, Baguio City can build some eight structures that could accommodate some 270 socialized-housing units with provisions for road networks, bio-filtration plants and solar panels on the roofs of structures. Thus, roofs have been designed to face the sun towards the south in preparation for possible investors. Only 40 percent of the land will be the built up area while the remaining 60 percent will be devoted to green spaces to help rehabilitate the environment of Baguio.
