A group of steel manufacturers on Thursday asked the government to investigate the proliferation of substandard angle bars in Rizal and Laguna provinces, which it warned could later put lives at risk.
In a statement, the Steel Angles, Shapes and Sections Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. (SASSMPI) said a letter was sent to the Bureau of Product Standards (BPS) to report about the defective samples of angle bars sold in 14 out of the 46 hardware stores it surveyed in those provinces.
