PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte and Sen. Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go found themselves the subjects of a biting commentary on social media from one of our opinion writers, Gus Lagman, who is currently on leave. I would have kept my peace were it not for his gross mischaracterization of the President’s health, alleged “lack of visibility during major crises like Typhoons ‘Rolly’ and ‘Ulysses’,” and Senator Go’s constant presence in the President’s life — official and personal.

That the President is suffering from an illness is public knowledge. He has not kept it from the public. The fact is, he has even made light of it on several occasions. Still, his detractors won’t let it go and continue to demand that the President give them a “full account of his state of health.”
