BACOLOD CITY: The Sandiganbayan Second Division has acquitted former mayor and congressman Monico Puentevella and co-accused Jessie Garcia in an allegedly overpriced purchase of information technology (IT) packages for P26 million when he was still Bacolod City’s representative in Congress.
In the decision for Criminal Case SB-14- CRM- 0108 and promulgated on Nov. 16, 2020, Associate Justice Oscar Herrera Jr. said Puentevella and Garcia were acquitted “for failure of the prosecution to prove their guilt beyond reasonable doubt.”
