THE government on Friday warned of a potential surge in cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) in evacuation centers as thousands of Filipinos flee their homes due to typhoon Ulysses (international name: Vamco).

During a briefing with other government agencies involved in the Ulysses response, Health Secretary Francisco Duque 3rd advised the local government units (LGUs) and emergency responders to ensure that health protocols were followed to avoid the spread of the virus among the evacuees.
