IN The Third Wave (University of Oklahoma Press, New York, 1991), the distinguished political scientist and professor Samuel Huntington presented a systematic and wide-ranging survey and analysis of democratization in the late 20th century. He also set out his theory of democratization that characterized the transition of societies from non-democratic to democratic regimes, and the contrasting transition of other societies in the opposite direction.
