Fishermen’s group seeks support for aquaculture

The country‘s aquaculture industry will help fill an anticipated gap in supply once the government implements a three-month-long closed fishing season for roundscad (galunggong) starting on November 1.

Lawyer Asis Perez, convenor of agricultural advocacy group Tugon Kabuhayan, in a recent briefing cited the importance of the closed season declared by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) to protect the species during its peak spawning season from November until end-January.
