Nurse Ratched is the infamous character from the Milos Foreman film and Ken Kesey book, “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” which is set in a mental institution. That role won actress Louise Fletcher the Best Actress Oscar at the 1976 Academy Awards.

The new Netflix series “Ratched,” created by Ryan Murphy (“American Horror Story,” “Glee,” “Hollywood,” “The Politicians”) attempts to tell the origin story of one of literature and cinema’s most discussed “villains,” Nurse Mildred Ratched.
