JUST when I thought our nation’s leaders were on deck deliberating and finalizing the 2021 budget, I was jolted out of my stupor. Instead of turning their undivided attention to enacting the 2021 fiscal year’s budget, our “honorable” congressmen chose to play petty, ugly politics to the prejudice of our long-suffering people. Another case of self -interest trumping public good.
All this fuss about Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano being “elected” as speaker by an overwhelming majority in the House, and should therefore retain his post despite his term-sharing agreement with Rep. Lord Allan Velasco is all for show, vacuous. For the record, I do not know Velasco personally, I’ve met him only once when we were introduced by a common friend in a hotel somewhere in Ortigas.
