IT is by far the clearest sign yet that the Duterte administration is resolute to reopen and rebuild the economy, following the unmistakable forecast of economic recession this year and the prospect of more difficulties next year.
In a memorandum circular issued on Friday, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), led by Secretary Ramon Lopez, announced that the government will now allow 17 business sectors to resume full operations as part of the effort to rebuild and return the economy to dynamism. The government will allow operation at full capacity of business activities in 17 sectors from mining and construction to film production and pet shops in areas under general community quarantine (GCQ).
