I PREVIOUSLY wrote a letter to The Manila Times objecting to the use of “faggot” by columnist Ramon T. Tulfo when referring to a member of the LGBT community (“Use of offensive word ‘faggot,’” Oct. 17, 2019). I gave historic reasons as to why the use of the word “faggot” was offensive. I asked why the The Manila Times allowed the use of “faggot” rather than an edited “f****t.” The Manila Times offered no justification for the use of “faggot.” And Tulfo still continues to use the word from time to time in his column.
What I now object to is Tulfo’s statement from his column of Feb. 18, 2020: “China does not have any history of invading another country.”
