Cordillera autonomy a broken vow

BAGUIO CITY: The government’s supposed failure to deliver on its assurance of grant of autonomy to the Cordillera region under a peace agreement signed more than 30 years ago has prompted a call for the return of tokens from the agreement given by the Cordillera Bodong Association-Cordillera People’s Liberation Army (CBA-CPLA) to its counterpart government panel.

A surviving signatory to the historic Mount Data peace agreement or sipat last week said the CBA-CPLA wanted back the spear, shield and tapis that it gave to government negotiators since the grant of autonomy has remained a promise.
