Mindoro city closes all cemeteries on ‘Undas’

CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro: Because of the threat from the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), the mayor of this capital city is closing all public and private cemeteries in the city starting October 29 until November 3, anticipating the influx of people to cemeteries who will visit their departed loved ones.

While recognizing that it has been a long-held tradition to remember and honor the memories of the dearly departed on All Saint’s Day or Undas, November 1, and an opportunity for relatives to have a get-together, Mayor Arnan Panaligan said amid the threat and dangers of Covid-19, there was a need to adopt a new way of observing the tradition.
