Pope Francis’ prayer for the intention for August: People in the maritime world

August, the eighth month of the year and the sixth month of the Roman calendar, comes from the Latin word “augustus,” meaning consecrated or venerable, and “augur,” meaning consecrated by augury or auspicious.

It is an auspicious time indeed for Pope Francis to have chosen to dedicate this month to seafarers and fisherfolk for his prayer intention.
